Kasso (Denmark)

Scaling renewable energy in Northern Europe

Overview

The Kasso Solar Park in Denmark is one of the largest utility-scale photovoltaic installations in Northern Europe. Delivered for European Energy, the project reflects SUNOTEC’s capability to execute complex, large-scale solar developments in highly regulated markets with strong labour frameworks.

SUNOTEC was responsible for the mechanical implementation of the project, ensuring compliance with Denmark’s strict local labour regulations and tariff structures. Despite supply chain constraints that extended the original six-month timeline, the project was successfully completed in September 2022, demonstrating SUNOTEC’s ability to maintain quality and performance even under challenging conditions.

SUNOTEC’s Integrated Approach

Construction & Implementation

SUNOTEC executed all core mechanical works, including pile driving, mounting structure assembly, trenching, cabling, and service road construction. The installation of more than 514,000 modules within three months highlights the efficiency of SUNOTEC’s specialised machinery fleet and experienced workforce.

Manufacturing & Supply Chain

By leveraging streamlined procurement processes and supply chain coordination, SUNOTEC mitigated material shortages and ensured continuity throughout project execution, maintaining momentum in a market characterised by strict union regulations and tariff frameworks.

Challenges & Solutions

The project’s originally planned six-month execution period was impacted by global material shortages. SUNOTEC’s ability to adapt procurement strategies, optimise logistics, and deploy in-house machinery enabled continued progress and timely completion without compromising on quality or safety standards.

Strategic Impact

Kasso Solar Park contributes significantly to Denmark’s renewable energy targets and grid decarbonisation efforts. The project also underscores SUNOTEC’s ability to operate successfully in highly regulated European markets, reinforcing its position as a reliable implementation partner for large-scale solar developments across the continent.
