The year 2023 marks the first ownership of Bulgarian plants as well as the construction of the largest EPC project with 124 MWp in the Verila mountain range.

By 2027, a pipeline worth 1.3 GWp will be installed. The solar parks will be operated by SECURSUN, the joint venture between German developer securenergy
and SUNOTEC.

Since joining the Danish market in 2017, we have constructed projects worth over 2.8 GWp. This makes Denmark SUNOTECs largest market overall.

As one of our first country markets, France now marks our second-largest market with 840 MWp being installed since 2017.

The year 2024 sees us evolving from a construction partner into a turnkey service provider. Over the past year, more than 200 MWp capacity was installed.

This market emerged in 2023, with two projects totalling an installed capacity of 174 MWp.

Our second EPC project has just been confirmed here.

We are expanding our horizon to West Africa, taking on the role of turnkey provider. With 66 MWp, this plant will be the largest in the country.

What does sustainability look like when it goes beyond clean energy?

In a new interview with SeeNext, our Head of Sustainability Dimitar Dimitrov shares how SUNOTEC is evolving from a solar EPC into a fully integrated energy partner, shaping not only renewable production, but also circularity, biodiversity, and community impact.

With Bulgaria’s renewable expansion now market-driven and battery storage demand accelerating, the clean-energy transition is entering a mature, self-sustaining phase. And SUNOTEC is helping drive that momentum.

This interview captures an important moment for SUNOTEC and for the broader decarbonisation journey in Bulgaria and across Europe.
🌍 SUNOTEC x GEN-I: Accelerating the Future of Energy Storage in Southeast Europe

SUNOTEC and GEN-I, d.o.o. have entered into a 5-year partnership to advance two battery energy storage facilities in Bulgaria, totalling 200 MW and 505 MWh, which are set to be operational by the end of March 2026.

Under this agreement, GEN-I will serve as the exclusive asset optimiser and trading partner for two SUNOTEC-developed storage facilities. This cooperation brings together SUNOTEC’s engineering, construction, and project delivery expertise and GEN-I’s advanced 24/7 trading, algorithmic optimisation, and market integration.

“This agreement marks a significant milestone in SUNOTEC’s long-term energy storage strategy,” said Kaloyan Velichkov, Founder and CEO of SUNOTEC. “As we scale our investment portfolio and integrate BESS solutions into our core development, collaborating with experienced and forward-thinking partners like GEN-I is essential. We aim to establish a strong foundation for our IPP strategy while building resilient energy infrastructure across Europe.”
When technology meets purpose, powerful things happen.

At SUNOTEC, we believe sustainability goes beyond building solar power plants. It is about creating lasting change for people and the planet.

That is why, through the SUNOTEC Foundation, we invest in projects that strengthen the communities where we live and work, supporting initiatives in education, healthcare, culture, sports, environmental protection, and entrepreneurship.

We are taking the next step in our mission to make clean energy accessible through a new partnership with the Sopowerful Foundation, an organisation dedicated to bringing clean, reliable solar energy to schools, hospitals, and vital institutions in underserved regions across Malawi, Tanzania, and beyond.

In less than six years, Sopowerful has:
☀️ Implemented 43 solar projects
☀️ Installed 523 kWp of solar capacity and 1,023 kWh of battery storage
☀️ Driven a 28% rise in school exam pass rates
☀️ Impacted 350,000+ people

“Sustainability is about more than technology; it’s about people,” said Bernhard Suchland, CEO of SUNOTEC. “Working together with Sopowerful allows us to extend the benefits of solar power to communities where access remains limited and where energy can change lives.”

Through this partnership, we are turning sunlight into opportunity and helping build self-sustaining futures.
SUNOTEC and Shell Energy Europe B.V. sign landmark cross-border agreement advancing battery storage in Central Eastern Europe. ⚡️

This marks a defining moment for SUNOTEC as we enter into a cross-border agreement with Shell Energy Europe B.V., a major milestone in advancing innovative financial mechanisms for large-scale battery energy storage development in the region.

The five-year agreement, linked to SUNOTEC’s 600+ MWh battery energy storage project, reinforces the company’s position as Europe’s leading integrated turnkey and technology provider for utility-scale solar and storage.

Together, we are demonstrating how technical excellence, financial innovation, and strategic cooperation can drive the energy transition and establish a new standard for renewable infrastructure across the region.

We are driven by a strong team spirit. Delivering exceptional expertise in the construction of PV solar plants.

Our belief is that we are all responsible for the world we live in and its future. Therefore our commitment as your general contractor in construction of PV solar plants is to your benefit and our future.
