With over a decade of hands-on experience and a track record of more than 650 completed ground-mounted PV plants, we have grown into Europe’s largest partner for the turnkey implementation of utility-scale solar projects. Established in 2012, our construction and implementation solutions are our heritage, and remain a core part of our portfolio, by offering practical know-how, uncompromising standards, and a reputation for building projects that perform from day one.

This expansion is due to the significant investment in expertise and service diversification, including the growth of a machinery fleet and the development of an international expert team, which is unrivalled. Today, we provide end-to-end, integrated solutions for solar PV and storage, covering every stage from project development, engineering and procurement to full mechanical and electrical execution, operations and maintenance, and seamless grid integration. With more than 12 GW of installed capacity, we combine technical excellence with robust processes to deliver projects that are efficient, reliable, and bankable.

We are united by a mission: to accelerate the energy transition by empowering a zero-carbon world. We do this by building the renewable energy systems that Europe depends on. Looking ahead, we continue to invest in innovation, ensuring our projects remain at the forefront of sustainable energy. Presently, the company operates from its offices in Munich, Germany and Sofia, Bulgaria.

2012
Establishment of SUNOTEC GmbH in Germany.
2013
SUNOTEC headquarters in Sofia is opened. Delivery of the first 2 MWp project in Germany.
2015
SUNOTEC enters the Danish market.
2017
SUNOTEC broadens its service offering through investing in its own machinery fleet.
SUNOTEC expands vertically by creating its in-house electrical engineering unit.
2018
SUNOTEC starts to offer a full construction portfolio, completing the first full-service project.
1 GWp of executed projects in Europe is reached.
2019
Release of SUNOTEC’s first large scale-solar farms in Africa and Australia.
2021
SUNOTEC builds he world’s biggest hybrid solar PV plant in West Africa.
2022
SUNOTEC celebrates its 10th anniversary.
SUNOTEC and securenergy start the joint venture SECURSUN with a pipeline of over 2.4 GWh battery storage by 2027.
2023
The new headquarters in Sofia is developed and built, including a state-of-the-art monitoring centre.

2024

Northern Africa sees an increase in projects.
BESS is added to the product portfolio.
2025
SUNOTEC invests in R&D centre for the development of own tracker system.
Expansion of global operations through the establishment of subdivisions.
SUNOTEC becomes the largest developer and operator of BESS in Bulgaria.
